Nicotine in Mother’s Milk Affects Babies Sleep Quality
A study by Julie A. Mennella, published in Pediatrics (2007, 120: 497-502), finds that babies that are breast feed after the mother had a smoke sleep less, less deep and are more agitated during their sleep.
Smoking doesn’t seem to affect the quantity of milk the babies drink.
This is contrary to the believe of many mothers who think that smoking doesn’t affect their offspring as long as they don’t get second hand smoke.
